PALM SPRINGS PLANNING COMMISSIONERS BACK FELLOW COMMISSIONER RICK HUTCHESON FOR PALM SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL

Palm Springs, CA, June 20, 2007 – Candidate for Palm Springs City Council and Planning Commissioner Rick Hutcheson announced today that he has been endorsed by his fellow Planning Commissioners, including Chair Dianne Marantz, Vice Chair Larry Hochenadel and Commissioners Leo Cohen, Bill Scott and Jon Cafferty. Hutcheson has also been endorsed by recent former Commissioners Tracy Conrad and Marshall Roath.

“Rick Hutcheson has been on the Planning Commission since July, 2005,” said Chairwoman Marantz. “He is a pleasure to work with since he always comes to the Planning Commission hearings prepared. He does not ‘shoot from the hip.’ He is concise, direct and informed. I am definitely supporting Rick for City Council, even though, when he wins, I will sorely miss him on the Planning Commission.”

Vice Chair Hochanadel added, “As a fellow Planning Commissioner, I am supporting Rick Hutcheson for City Council. Rick researches the topic at hand and listens carefully to all sides before making any decisions. He is a supporter of conservation and renewable energy and has been a pleasure to work with. I think he would be an asset to the Citizens of Palm Springs.”

“Rick Hutcheson deserves your support for Palm Springs City Council....he certainly has mine,” said Commissioner Leo Cohen, who also served with Hutcheson on the Citizens Advisory Panel for Community Development Block Grants. “Rick is an attentive listener, sensitive to details, with a great ability to bring all the parts together into a logical whole. His observations on the Palm Springs Planning Commission stimulate other members and staff to seek balanced, logical and successful conclusions for the betterment of our community. I have the greatest respect for his judgment and look forward to working with him as an outstanding member of City Council.”

“I’m truly humbled to have this support from my fellow Commissioners,” said Hutcheson. “I learn from them at every meeting of the Planning Commission, and we all learn from the ideas offered by our neighbors and fellow citizens who testify at Commission meetings. I look forward to being an independent voice on City Council for all Palm Springs residents.” Hutcheson also serves on the Police Advisory Board and the Office of Neighborhood Involvement.
